Turning the Tide: Newspaper

£7.90

'Turning the Tide' explores water pollution around the U.K., with a focus on the community groups who have formed to protect and revitalise our waters.

Starting in September 2022, Ellie travelled around the UK over the next year photographing and interviewing groups who've come together to protect our waterways and raise awareness of the huge levels of pollution, most notably identified as raw sewage released from water companies.

In 2022, there were 389,000 discharges of raw sewage into U.K. waterways alone. Currently, none of English waterways are in “good” ecological and chemical health, despite a target for all waters to be in good health by 2027. Our waters are among the most polluted in Europe.

This project has been printed as a newspaper named 'The Tides' and is a fundraiser for WASP (Windrush Against Sewage Pollution) a community group and charity (Registered Charity Number 1199418) who’ve been monumental in uncovering water pollution data and pushing awareness of sewage pollution forwards. Buying a copy will help to support them continue the work they're doing.
